Mississippi and Louisiana

Our trip down the Natchez Trace Parkway ended with a side trip to Vicksburg. Unfortunately, we just missed being able to drive the grounds of the historic battlefield but we were able to quickly tour the Visitor Center which was excellent. We also got directions to the Children’s Art Park which had fountains and a playground that the kids enjoyed after a long day in the car. We stayed in Natchez and were only able to briefly drive around the city looking at the antebellum mansions before heading out. I would also recommend the Visitor Center in Natchez, which is part of the National Park Service and had lots of information on the Mississippi River.

I think we’ve all agreed that the swamp tour we took near Breaux Bridge, Louisiana has been the best thing on the trip so far. We saw many different kinds of birds and many alligators. We had a fantastic guide from the area who was very knowledgeable about what we were seeing.
