DIY Christmas

I can’t take credit for the idea, or the photo. It was taken by my husband, H., on our recent outing to the U.S. Botanic Garden. Directions are here if you want to make your own living ornament.

We haven’t actually done it yet. The photo is from the tree at the Botanic Garden. I think the link has recommendations for cuttings, one I remember was to use grass seed which is fast growing and looks very pretty. I’m planning on doing this with the boys one day and thinking about using the grass seed. My other thought was to use cuttings from our Christmas cactus.

  1. I saw those suggestions and thought of using our Christmas cactus, too. But those plants in the picture are very pretty. (They look like ferns.) I wonder if the cuttings need rootlets before planting them.
